Brookside is a charming, locally owned and operated residence, nestled in a peaceful, mature setting in Kanata North. Just around the corner from the Brookstreet Hotel and adjacent to a beautiful walking path and pond, it’s a place where you might even spot a beaver.

Purpose-built in the mid-90s to serve seniors in Ottawa’s west end, Brookside offers the perfect balance of size and community with 82 units spread across three stories. The residence features a variety of suite sizes, styles, and views, with 99% of suites offering large private bathrooms with accessible walk-in showers. Many units have been recently renovated with modern hard surface flooring and fresh, neutral paint, making them move-in ready.

Our studio suites range from 275-450 sq. ft. and some include kitchenettes with space for a mini fridge and microwave. One-bedroom suites range from 500-750 sq. ft. and come with kitchenettes and abundant storage. All accommodations are equipped with individual thermostat-controlled radiant heating, ensuring comfort year-round.

At Brookside, we pride ourselves on creating a community where residents never get lost in the shuffle. There’s always something to do, and we make sure to notice if someone is missing out on activities or meals.

Our Story

Brookside Manor was purpose-built in the mid-1990s by local developers who chose an ideal setting surrounded by mature trees, tranquil ponds, and scenic walking paths. Nestled in nature, this location became the foundation for a retirement community that many consider Kanata’s best-kept secret.

In the early 2000s, the property was acquired and operated by Chartwell, becoming known as Chartwell Kanata Retirement Residence.

Today, Brookside is proudly locally owned and managed by Grandview Senior Living, a team of seasoned senior living experts dedicated to combining years of experience and best practices in elder care. Under this new stewardship, Brookside continues to thrive as a community where compassionate care and vibrant living meet.
