Brookside

Brookside is a small, family-owned and independently operated residence, allowing us to offer flexible, personalized care in a warm, non-corporate environment. We believe in a true continuum of care, ensuring residents receive the right support as their needs change—without losing their sense of home, dignity, or independence.

We offer three living options:

  • Independent Supported Living

  • Assisted Living

  • The Meadows Secure Assisted Living

Each option is designed to meet residents where they are today, with the ability to adjust care as needs evolve.

Availability varies depending on the size, style, and location of your preferred suite. We encourage you to contact our Leasing Manager for the most up-to-date information and to discuss upcoming availability. We recognize that making the move is a big step for some this is why we will allow you to reserve a suite and move a bit later. This allows you a first right of refusal and gives you some time to make plans.

Yes! We offer furnished short-stay options for those seeking respite care, convalescence, or a staycation. Short stays are a wonderful way to experience life at Brookside before committing long-term.

Many guests choose Brookside for post-operative recovery, as we offer fully accessible accommodations, assistance with homemaking, chef-prepared meals, and the peace of mind of 24/7 on-site emergency support.

We also welcome guests for winter staycations, with many individuals choosing to stay for one, two, or three months. These extended stays help break up the cold, isolating winter months while enjoying full days of engaging activities, social connection, and plenty of fun at Brookside.

Our base price includes many essential services that other retirement homes often charge extra for, including:

  • Three chef-prepared, home-cooked meals daily

  • Daily medication management

  • Weekly housekeeping and laundry

  • Social, recreational, and wellness programs

  • 24-hour staff availability

We believe these services are fundamental to maintaining optimal health and wellness. Click Here to compare starting rates and services.

Yes. Our chef-prepared meals can accommodate a variety of dietary needs and preferences, including medical, cultural, and personal requirements. We work closely with residents to ensure meals are both enjoyable and appropriate.

The move-in process is designed to be smooth, supportive, and personalized.

Typically, families begin by scheduling a tour to get to know the residence and select a preferred suite. Once a suite is chosen, we ask that an application and preference sheet be completed. This helps us get to know you better and prepare for a successful transition.

You will then meet with our Director of Care, who will begin developing a personalized care plan. From there, a lease is signed and a move-in date is scheduled.

We take care of the rest—ensuring everything is ready for your arrival, including thoughtful details such as matching you with tablemates we believe you’ll connect well with.

Our Assisted Living program offers personalized support ranging from light assistance to more comprehensive care. Before move-in, residents and families meet with our Director of Care to create a preliminary care plan together. Follow-up meetings occur 3–4 weeks after move-in and then every six months, or sooner if needed, to ensure care continues to meet each resident’s needs.

Yes. We collaborate closely with Ontario Health at Home and have a dedicated Care Coordinator assigned to our community. This partnership helps ensure residents receive coordinated, optimal care.

Our hope is that residents can remain with us long-term, should they wish to do so. Our goal is to continually update each resident’s plan of care as needs change, allowing us to support them through different stages of aging.

The Meadows is a secure area designed for residents who require additional physical or cognitive supervision, particularly overnight. It offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while maintaining dignity and comfort. Residents are supported daily by our dedicated Den Mom and are automatically enrolled in our Sparks Program.

The Sparks Program is a small-group recreational therapy program focused on cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being. Through fun, coordinated activities, it promotes engagement, movement, connection, and joy.

Brookside offers a wide range of activities led by two dedicated Activity Coordinators, including fitness programs, social events, hobbies, creative pursuits, and recreational therapy. Our goal is to create meaningful moments every day—and sometimes that simply means sharing laughter and smiles.

Yes! Our Resident Volunteer Committee offers many opportunities for residents to stay involved, including helping with the monthly newsletter, managing the library or tuck shop, assisting with morning announcements, or welcoming new residents.

You can contact us through our website or by phone to schedule a tour or speak with a member of our admissions team. We are always happy to help.
